Teaching at PASO Medical

At PASO Medical, all of our clinicians participate in a 6 week course for final year medical students through Monash University as an elective rotation. This gives students a broad overview and introduction into cancer medicine.

Students gain experience working with patients who are undergoing surgical procedures and medical treatments (i.e. chemotherapy and radiation). Each of the consultants provides case-based teaching as well as formal tutorials on the management of all of the common cancers, providing students with a unique insight into cancer biology and the diagnostic methods.

At the conclusion of the course, students are strongly encouraged to present at one of PASO Medical’s regular multi-disciplinary meetings where they will lead a discussion about a patient’s diagnosis and subsequent treatment plan with a group of qualified specialists, nurses, clinical trial coordinators and allied health professionals.
