  • Dr Sameer Kaul

    MBBS FRACP Respiratory & Sleep Physician

    Dr Sameer Kaul completed his undergraduate medical degree in New Delhi, India before coming to Australia and completing his basic training as a general physician at both Frankston hospital and The Alfred hospital. He acquired broad experience in all aspects of Internal Medicine with placements in various metropolitan, suburban and rural hospitals, including Rosebud, Sandringham, Shepparton and Mildura Base Hospital.

    Dr Kaul returned to work as the Senior Medical Registrar at The Alfred hospital. He then went on to complete his advanced training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, at both the Alfred and Frankston hospitals. Dr Kaul has since returned to the Peninsula as a consultant Respiratory Physician.

    Dr Kaul is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians having specialised in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. He is also a current member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.

    Dr Kaul’s interests include all facets of Respiratory and Sleep medicine with a concentration in chronic lung disease, diagnostic assessments in lung cancer and sleep –related respiratory disorders including non-invasive ventilation. At PASO, he is an integral attendee of our multi-disciplinary meetings as he is in charge of our rapid lung cancer diagnosis and assessment program, which allows patients with suspected lung cancer to receive the appropriate tests in a timely fashion.

  • Dr Juan Mulder

    MBChB FRACP Respiratory & Sleep Physician

    Dr Juan Mulder is a Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian Society of Physicians, a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and a Registered Polysomnographist.

    He has a particular interest in sleep disorders, especially complex disorders such as insomnia, parasomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome and sleep apnoea. He is a firm believer in a multimodal approach to managing sleep disorders, given their frequently complex nature. Thus, he undertook additional training in Intensive Care, to enable him to manage complex modes of invasive and non-invasive ventilation, as well as treating critically ill patients.

    He is an adept thoracic physician and does bronchoscopy, bronchoscopic interventions (lung valves), endobronchial ultrasound, lung function test reporting, thoracic ultrasound and intercostal catheter insertion. He also manages the workup of lung nodules and abnormal x rays or CT chest imaging.

    He has a public appointment with Peninsula Health and works at both Frankston Public Hospital and Peninsula Private Hospital.

  • Mark Katugampola

    Respiratory Scientist

    Mark has a background in education, physiology and psychology. He received a Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diploma of Education before starting a career in high school teaching. He then returned to study to shift his career into the health care sector, completing a Bachelor of Social Science and Graduate Diploma of Psychology from Swinburne University.

    He is involved in performing a range of lung function tests at PASO Medical to assist doctors diagnose and manage respiratory conditions. He is also involved in a research project, aimed at developing a biomarker screening tool for lung cancer.

    Mark's interests include playing tennis, watching cricket and walking his Shih Tzu Dog.
